DIVINE ADVANCEMENT (Exodus 14:13-15)

I congratulate you on the successful completion of the 50 days fasting and prayer, which ends today. Reading this piece is a testimony that you started the waiting period and you concluded it with peace. Without any doubt, I am convinced it has been an awesome experience with the creator of heaven and earth. My prayer is that you will access all the attendant blessings of that spiritual exercise with sound health, joy and peace in Jesus name. Also, I encourage you to build on and consolidate the spiritual gains (both on individual and corporate levels) achieved thus far this year. Consequent upon this, I joyfully welcome you to the month of March, which the almighty God has declared unto us in this parish, as our month of “DIVINE ADVANCEMENT”. The bible says: “And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward” (Exodus 14:13-15). God commanded the Israelites to go forward to the next stage of their journey to the Promised Land. The same commandment is coming to you today that you should go forward to the next chapter of your life journey. If God asks you to go forward it means He is actively involved hence divine advancement. Divine advancement means there is always the next level. Whatever may be the level you are operating now; you can definitely operate at the next level according to God’s design and desire for your life. Your current spiritual state of being may be satisfying to you but you are advancing to the next level. Your current financial situation, career accomplishment, academic excellence, ideas generation, service to God and humanity, enormous virtues possession and decency may be satisfying but there is always the next level and God wants you to move to that level. God also wants you to advance beyond the life of hatred, malice, jealousy, dishonesty, immorality, unrighteousness, lukewarmness and pride to the life of love, humility, simplicity, compassion, activeness and uprightness. In our anchor text when God asked Moses to “speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward” the implication of this is that all that you need to advance has been fitted into you by God, you only need to activate with faith.

Second, your focus should be where you are going and not what is pursuing you as God will take care of that. So you need to direct your energy and time to the goals ahead of you and think less of those issues pursuing you. They are mere distractions to you. As God took care of Pharaohs and his chariots pursuing the Israelites God will take care of whatever may be pursuing you. Third, there is usually a word from God when it is time for you to advance because divine advancement comes with divine involvement, divine assurance, divine guidance, divine shield and divine direction. When God asks you to advance what He has prepared for you ahead is far bigger and precious than the position He advises you advance from. Meanwhile, you should be conscious of the fact that something is always around the corner to instil fear into your mind when you want to advance hence the word of God “fear not”. Our God is “ever present help” hence there is no need for panicking mood as He is control of everything and your advancement will definitely end in songs of thanksgiving and victory as was for the Israelites after heading His commandment of going forward.
