Good Report

I have great pleasure in welcoming you to the month of May, the second month of the second quarter of this year. Furthermore, we give glory to the Almighty and gracious God who has sustained this parish for the past 18th years with giant strides on many fronts. No doubt, it has been 18 years of immeasurable God’s faithfulness, demonstration of unequalled power of God, indescribable show of God’s mercy, tenacious sustaining grace of God, unstoppable expansion of God’s kingdom, and exciting spiritual experience. This story of this parish is a testimony of when God is your pillar and fortress, you become untouchable for the forces of darkness, no matter how they try and plan against you. It is a testimony that the church of God is marching on, and the gates of hell cannot prevail. What God is doing in this parish is extraordinary and awesome, and I congratulate you for being part of what God is doing. You will continually be relevant in the things of the kingdom in Jesus name. The theme for this month is GOOD REPORT. Our anchor scripture is Numbers 13:30, which says, “And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it”. The story around our anchor scripture has to do with the 12 spies which Moses sent to spy the promised land. While 10 of them came with bad reports, Caleb and Joshua came with good reports.

Numbers 13:30

There are many lessons to be learned from this story. First, do not allow anybody to use his or her negativity to drown the positive energy and vibes in you. Second, you should always be moved by God’s promise through his words and not by human voice or circumstance that does not align with the word of God. Third, you must always have absolute trust and confidence in the almighty God to perform or bring to pass His promise concerning your life. Fourth, you must always activate the power of positive confession in your life. Bringing this into our practical lives, yes, you are living in a world which is replete with bad reports on all news media on hourly basis. You are also fed with many unpalatable stories about bad health, financial debt, moral decadence, wickedness of man to another man, dishonesty, betrayals and the like; these should not define your personality nor mould your behavioural patterns. Remember that you are only in this world, but you are not of the world. Caleb is positive about his thinking and approach in this story. He also brings a good report from the land they had gone to spy. All these worked for him as he was able to get to the promised land, as God gave them victories over all the obstacles on their way. On the other hand, the other ten with bad reports died in the wilderness without reaching the promised land. I pray that God will give you victories over both visible and invisible enemies in Jesus name.

Meanwhile, be intentional about your walk with God. Be prayerful, study the word of God regularly, read good Christian literature, listen to good Christian music, watch good Christian movies, and listen to good soul-inspiring biblical teachings. Let your conduct and speech reflect the lessons from these resources.
