OPEN HEAVEN

OPEN HEAVEN (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Welcome to the month of November, which God has graciously been declared unto us in Mount Zion parish as the month of OPEN HEAVEN. What does open heaven connotes spiritually? It means the presence of God, the glory of God and the power of God being made available to us alive. When Jesus Christ experienced open heavens a spirit like a dove came down from heaven upon him and a voice announced him to the world. So, it comes with positive declarations concerning our present and the future by the almighty God (Mark 1:11). Furthermore, it comes with the power of God (Luke 4:14) just as Jesus Christ began to walk in the power and authority of God after open heaven (Luke 4:18-20). Also, open heavens bring about clearer vision of God and His plans for you hence Ezekiel declared “The heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God” (Ezekiel 1:1). When God declares open heaven upon youThe LORD shall open unto you his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand: and you shall lend unto many nations, and you shall not borrow” (Deuteronomy 28:12). Open heaven experience removes lots of hurdles from one’s way, it sets you apart for great exploits and it attracts great blessings unto you. This is exemplified in the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, who also demonstrated a clear vision for a set goal. This is very important for all believers who want a continuous experience of open heaven. It is undeniable fact that open heaven attracts envy and jealousy from both friends and foes alike. This envy also manifests in various forms but its ultimate aim is to derail your focus and blur your God given vision for a glorious life. Therefore, set a clear cut vision for yourself, pursue the vision within God’s purview and refused to be distracted. This was the case with Jesus Christ right from the baptism at river Jordan till His ascension. This was also the case with Paul right from the road to Damascus to the end of his ministry, when he could boldly say “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing” (2 Timothy 4:7-8).

Remember that much as open heaven comes with wonderful blessings it also comes with corresponding responsibilities that demand holiness, purity, righteousness unto God and love from us at all times. God will cause the heaven to be opened upon us permanently while heaven will not cease to pour its blessings upon them in this month and beyond in Jesus name.
