THE SIEGE IS OVER

THE SIEGE IS OVER (2 Kings 6:24-7:1)
May the grace of God abound unto you always. God’s name is to be praised forever as His faithfulness fails not and His mercy endures forever. The first nine months of this year have rolled by and they are significant. They represent the process of planning, groundbreaking, planting, nurturing and waiting for the manifestation of a bountiful harvest. We thank the almighty God for giving us life to witness all these stages unshaken in our faith and confidence in Him. It is a known fact that these various stages are usually accompanied with dispense of great efforts, suspense, bends, blockades and attacks from unexpected quarters. I am pleased to inform you that all these accompanying challenges have come to an end as I welcome you to the month of October and the beginning of the last quarter of the year. The theme for this month is THE SIEGE IS OVER. The time of permanent victory and rejoicing over academic failure, financial stress, marital woes, career dysfunction, retardation, family troubles and spiritual stagnancy has come in Jesus name. There are many instances in the bible where people experienced various form of siege but the situation in our texts here capture, in a comprehensive and expository manner, the meaning of a siege and what it takes the omnipotent God to bring it to an end. In 2 Kings 6:24-25, the bible records it that “ And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria. And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a cab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver”. It is illustrative to note here that the famine in Samaria came as a result of the siege laid upon it by King Benhadad of Syria. It is also important to note that King Benhadad did not violently attack Samaria, he did not kill anybody directly, he did not carry anybody as slaves and curiously, he did not enter the city of Samaria. However, he laid siege on Samaria by isolating the city from supplies and help, cutting the city from outside communication, and preventing free movement to and from the city. From the above situation, we could see that a siege is a subtle but devastating attack with no visible violent attack. It is a situation whereby the enemy stays outside and begins to wreck destabilising havoc inside. Siege is one of the effective strategies that Satan uses against children of God. This is what happens when people experience joblessness in the midst of abundant job opportunities, wants in the midst of great abundance, persistent isolated failure in the midst of many experiences of successes by surrounding people, barrenness experience in the midst of fruitfulness, debt experience in the midst of richness of God, too much groaning instead of glory, and spiritual dryness in the midst of fullness of the words of God. Despite the above scenarios, there is good news because you belong to God. In spite the intensity and the effectiveness of King Benhadad’s siege upon Samaria, it took one prophetic declaration from a genuine man of God to bring the misery to an end. The scripture records the turning point this way, “Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord, Tomorrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria” (2 Kings 7:1). With this pronouncement, famine, bareness, poverty, groaning, sufferings, debt, failure, isolation, failures, and other misfortunes came to an end within 24 hours. Connecting to the power in that prophetic declaration, I decree into your life that the siege over your entire life, your finance, career, marriage, academics, spiritual life, home, and ministry is over in Jesus name. However, remember to maintain your right standing with God at all time so that devil is denied any legal grounds into your life. This month is a turning point in your life as you remain a permanent channel of blessings to your generation in Jesus name.
Remain blessed
