A New Cruse
by Paul Omoyefa
The exceeding joy of the Lord is your strength. You will excel in all the areas of your life this year in Jesus name. Today is the beginning of a new day, the beginning of a new week, the beginning of a new month, the beginning of a new year, and the beginning of new things in our lives. The new always replaces the old with new agenda, and as God opens a new chapter in our lives today, may He causes all the old things to give way to a new experience of God in a new way in our lives in Jesus name. Welcome to the year 2017, a year that will give you unquantifiable blessings each day of the year in Jesus name. The theme for this month in RCCG Mount Zion parish is “A NEW CRUSE”. Any new thing usually brings a new experience differently from the old one. So was the experience of the people of the city of Jericho whose old experience of barren land and naught water gave way to a new experience of fruitfulness. The bible says “And the men of the city said unto Elisha, Behold, I pray thee, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord seeth: but the water is naught, and the ground barren” (2 Kings 2:19). This is the type of situation that many people find themselves nowadays. To their friends and colleagues, things appear to be alright for them based on their outward appearance but in their closets, they are going through hell fire. The men of the city did something worth emulating, which is not pretending to the man of God that things are alright. This is also a big lesson for us that we should open up to those God has sent as vehicles of solution to our problems. The man of God asked them to “bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him. And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the Lord, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land” (2 Kings 2: 20-21). Here, Elisha did not command them to bring just any cruse but a new one which signifies purity and uncontaminated container. Also, he requested for salt which represents supernatural power at work because naturally salt adds salinity to water which is not good while salt makes a land barren and desolate. The new cruse is calling us unto total life of purity while the salt wants us to preserve the purity constantly. Another big lesson to learn from this story is that the waters were healed unto this day, which signifies enduring miracle. I decree that all your God-given miracles this year will be permanent in Jesus name. It is also significant that Elisha went straight to the spring (source) of waters and cast the salt in there. It is illustrative for us to be interested more in the source of things than the effects or consequences. Also, it is an assurance that God is going to the source of all our concerns to address them effectively and permanently this year in Jesus name. I pray that your land will not be barren again and all the areas of your life that need healing will be divinely healed permanently in Jesus name. Meanwhile, be careful to keep yourself pure, abstain from all besetting sins, connect only to the righteousness of God and serve him wholeheartedly more than before. You are definitely in for a year of all-round peace, comfort, breakthrough, favour, blessings and unending fruitfulness in Jesus name. Once more, happy new year.
