Open Door
by Paul Omoyefa
The joy of the Lord is your strength. Welcome to the month of April, the beginning of the second quarter of the year and the month commemorating the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. It marks a new dawn as Jesus Christ pronounced an end to all difficulties and worries of life on the cross by saying “It is finished” (John 19:30). His resurrection also signifies an irreversible end to our concerns and challenges when the bible recorded it that on the day of resurrection “And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it” (Mathew 28:2). This is a mark of finality, which only demonstrates the deep-seated care and love of God for mankind. His death and resurrection open door to victory over death as well as door to salvation and attendant God’s blessings. Hence our theme for this month is OPEN DOOR. This is the promise of God that is confirmed in the bible “I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name” (Revelation 3:8). It is a call to duty for us to use both our physical and spiritual to see all the open doors that God has set before us. This is the difference between Isaac and the Philistines. While others saw door of famine in the land Isaac saw door of prosperity and greatness hence he sowed in the land and he reaped bountifully (Genesis 26:12). In the same vein, God promised to give to Abraham all the land he could see (Genesis 13:15). So, I encourage you to begin to see open doors of progress, fruitfulness, word revelation, good career progression, excellent academic performance, activation of latent God’s given talents, peaceful home, sound health and great society built on the fear of God. As long as you see these doors opened unto you, God will open them and no man can shut them. Furthermore, I want to remind you that every door has an entrance as well as exit. Therefore, for every good door opened unto you a bad door is being closed at the same time. To this end, God can close wrong doors so as to open right doors for you. When God acts in this way, be conscious of the fact the God is not hindering you but helping you to achieve the best because God has a complete view of the circumstances (past, present and future) that surround you and He is in full control. You should also be aware that when God set open doors before you, opposition, adversaries and hatred towards you will definitely come. This is the experience of Paul when he says “For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries” (I Corinthians 16:9). However, be assured that as those adversaries could not stop Paul from fulfilling his ministry you cannot be stopped by any power of darkness in Jesus name. Meanwhile, remember that there are conditions in our anchor scripture that qualify you for open door that cannot be shut. First, you must live a life of holiness all the time because God knows your works whether in the closet or outside. Second, you must keep His word, i.e. total obedience to all His commandments. Third, you must not deny His name by the way you live your life. Above all, open the door of your heart unto Him so that He can continually dwell in you. You are set for extraordinary experience of open doors this month and beyond in Jesus name. Amen.
