Abundant Blessings

Abundant Blessings

The joy of the Lord is your strength. Welcome to the month of June, the concluding month for the first half of this year. The theme for this month is ABUNDANT BLESSINGS.  Abundant can only be given by someone who has everything in abundance. God is called the almighty, El-shaddai who is loaded with inexhaustible blessings. This is exemplified in our anchor scriptures – Deuteronomy 28:1-8 where God lays down the expansive and comprehensive coverage of His blessings for us. The blessings cover wherever you are located hence ” Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field” (verse 3). It also covers whatever comes out of you or is connected to you hence “Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep” (verse 4). The blessings extend to whatever you produce hence “Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store” (verse 5). The blessings accompany you wherever you travel to and every step you take hence ” Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out” (verse 6). God is aware that His abundant blessings upon your life will surely attract battles and attacks from the enemies hence “The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways” (verse 7).

Finally, the blessings of God cover all your belongings and whatever you accumulate hence “The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee” (verse 8). Nothing could be more assuring than being completely covered by the blessings of God knowing fully well that “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Remember that no one can stop you from being under the coverage of these blessings because God says definitely the blessings “shall come to pass” (Deuteronomy 28:1). However, its coming to pass and appropriating all these blessings are with condition of simple obedience to God’s commandments. He says ” if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God” (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).  So hearken to the voice of the Lord which asks you to forgive people who offend you, follow peace with all men (Hebrews 12:14), love all people including your enemies (Mathew 5.44), associate with the fellowship of brethren (Hebrews 10:25), do not elevate anybody or anything above God, speak the truth always and abhor wickedness.

Above all , refrain from seeking all these blessings outside God but seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Mathew 6:33) because therein are enclosed the abundant blessings of God. This is the spring season; you will enjoy God’s blossoming on all fronts in Jesus name.  Amen.
