Divine Settlement

DIVINE SETTLEMENT (1 Peter 5: 10)
Congratulations and welcome to the month of December, the last lap for this year. God has remained ever faithful on all fronts to us as a church and individuals. The theme for this month is DIVINE SETTLEMENT. The bible says “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you” (1 Peter 5:10). Settlement means you have been owed and you need to be settled. Remember the Israelites were owed many things for over 430 years but when God stepped in, within one day they were settled beyond what they were owed. When you are to be settled all your rights and privileges that were denied you or taken away from you will be returned and restored. The place of dignity was taken away from Mephibosheth but within a day this was restored with a simple pronouncement (2 Samuel 9:10). The Shunammite woman had her properties taken away but this was divinely restored even with help from unexpected quarter, Gehazi (2Kings 8:1-6). Divine settlement also means long forgotten or denied rewards will be given and accorded. This is what happened to Mordecai when rewards of long years was divinely engineered for access (Esther 6:10-11). Pending blessings are released when it is time for you to be settled. Also, at times, it requires no effort from you but mercy and grace from God. It also connotes that an end has come to your suffering, delay, hardship, difficult and disappointment. It implies that whatever you might be going through now are transient and not everlasting. The power of God is there to outlast that unpalatable situation. The evil ones will also be settled with appropriate punishment. This is what happened to the Amalekites in the Bible (Deuteronomy 25:17-19). Hence don’t take vengeance to yourself because vengeance belongs to God. When God settles your case it is settled forever. The woman with issue of blood who had been going from one place to the other was settled in one day (Luke 8:43-48). The same thing happened to the man at the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-15). Zacchaeus and the woman at the well had their spiritual lives settled by Jesus Christ one day. The widow of Zarephath has her financial situation settled one day (1 Kings 17:7-16) while Sarah, Hannah and Elizabeth had their cases of barrenness settled one day. Jabez was not left behind as the wrong in his destiny was settled one day (1 Chronicles 4:9-10). I pray that you will be divinely settled in all areas of your life in Jesus name. Do not be in a hurry to engage in human settlement when God has a genuine settlement for you. Any attempt to settle yourself in whatever form without God’s involvement could have dire consequence for you. This was the situation with Abraham who decided to settle himself by sleeping with Hagar and had Ishmael instead of waiting for divine settlement in Isaac, the child of promise. Be careful to know that when the bible talks about suffering for “a while” it is God that determines the length of time of that “a while”. So do not use your mental imagination to calculate it because “a while” could be a training and maturing time to be able to handle the divine settlement. In essence, there is an appointed time for your settlement. Finally you need to be spiritually sensitive at all time. Also, divine settlement needs to be sustained by permanent connection to the source, which is God. You are a blessing in Jesus name.
