Divine Mercy

Divine Mercy

Isaiah 54:7-10

Congratulations on the successful completion of the first quarter of this year. Definitely, the first quarter has manifested many things, both good and otherwise but God has been faithful that we have only been partakers of the good part of the story. I pray that this will continue to be for all of us in Jesus name. By the same token and heart of gratitude to the almighty God, I heartily welcome you to the second quarter of the year. It is going to great for you in this quarter in Jesus name. The theme for this month is DIVINE MERCY. Our anchor scripture is Isaiah 54: 7-10, which says “For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.  In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee. For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but My kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee”. Divine mercy is the demonstration of God’s extraordinary measure of love and compassion towards us. We do not attract this love neither do we deserve it but we are being given unconditionally. This is what differentiates divine mercy from mercy exhibited by human beings, which is conditionally and often come with reciprocity. Divine mercy is elastic hence the bible says His mercy endures forever. It is also eternal as it transcends one generation to another. Divine mercy shows that God is mindful of us and He cares so much for us hence His words in our anchor scripture where He talks about gathering us to Himself with great mercies, having mercy on us with His everlasting kindness, promising us that His kindness shall not depart from us while His covenant of peace will be with us permanently. No man is able to do this even if he wishes.

The implication of divine mercy is that it is embedded with rest of mind, taking away the wrath of God from our lives and drinking from the fountain of His compassion at all times. Added to this is the fact that it is out of divine mercy that God sends His only begotten son to us for the purpose of eternal and salvation from damnation. So, it is not accidental that death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the epitome of divine mercy, is being commemorated this month. This is indicative for those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and personal saviour to do so without delay. This act of divine mercy also teaches us that we should exhibit mercy and kindness in every aspect of our lives. Let us learn from Jesus Christ how to forgive and forget permanently. Sin pollutes a life of mercy, hence I employ to flee away from sin, rededicate your life to Jesus Christ and entrust the entirety of life into His hand. You will continuously live a life of dominion in Jesus name. Happy new month.
