Divine Authority

You are welcome to the month of August, the eight month of this wonderful year. The theme for this month is DIVINE AUTHORITY and our anchor scripture is Luke 10:19, which says “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you”. We thank God for the privilege of connecting to the power of the almighty God to face the recurring challenges facing mankind of all races. The bible makes us understand in the book of Ephesians 6:12 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in heavenly places”.

Luke 10:19

The direct implication of this is that all life’s challenges have spiritual undertone and the flesh cannot achieve victory over them. For us to have victory we need power beyond ordinary hence the divine authority. This is the authority given to believers to fight all battles of life both visible and invisible with an assured victory. This the authority that drives away fear from the life of a believer. It is the authority that comes with an undeniable mandate to rout all troublers of your life. In fact, the word behold in our anchor scripture is a mark of emphasis. When he says I give unto you power, the first question to ask is who is talking here and what is his pedigree as you cannot give to another person what you do not have. Jesus Christ is speaking here and his pedigree could be seen in Mathew 28:18 where he says “And Jesus came and spoke unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”. The person who has all power in heaven and on earth can give you power to exercise. So I urge you to exercise the power but according to His instructions. Jesus says you should exercise the power over serpents, scorpions and enemies. These words could also be understood symbolically. In other words, these may not be physical serpents, scorpions and enemies but anything, situation, circumstance or person that fit into their nature. So, to be able to exercise this power to the fullest, you must be operating in the spirit and not the flesh, and your spiritual antenna must be operating at high spiritual frequency. You can only do this by running away from sins, live a life of holiness and purity, soak yourself in the spiritual pool of prayer and study the word of God intensely. You are assured of victory over all forces of darkness and wickedness in Jesus name. I decree a positive beginning of new dawn, new chapter and new relationship with God who is ever faithful and dependable at all times and in all situations as you go through this month and beyond in Jesus name.
