Everlasting Mercy
by Paul Omoyefa
You are heartily welcome to the month of March, the third month of the year and last month of the first quarter of the year. Our God has remained faithful and gracious to us on all fronts. No doubt, in the first two months we have enjoyed an immeasurable level of blessings, victories, protections, provisions and sustenance in various dimensions. God be greatly praised forever. Our theme for this month is EVERLASTING MERCY and our anchor scripture is Psalm 103:17 which says “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children”.
Mercy is simply unquantifiable and unqualified love of God for mankind. It is unconditional love of God to us. It does come out of what we have done, or out of educational qualifications, experiences, expertise, background and spiritual status but out of God’s own prerogative and discretion. Hence, “For He saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion”. When we talk of something being everlasting, it goes beyond a particular time, season and generation. The beginning cannot be adequately comprehended and neither could the end be fathomed. So everlasting mercy is elastic and it can only come from God who is eternal. According to our anchor scripture, it is unto a generation to another generation of children’s children. Definitely, it is beyond man because it is only God who lives forever and continues to exist from one generation to another. God is everlasting hence He is a custodian and giver of everlasting mercy. This everlasting mercy fights battles of life for mankind with victorious results. It is mercy that erases not only immediate and future judgments but generational judgements and curses. It is mercy that separates and singles you out for special attention and extraordinary blessings as well as accomplishments. It is mercy that the world cannot explain and the human mind cannot comprehend. It is mercy that attracts favour and continually sets your feet on the path of greatness. I earnestly covet for you everlasting mercy and pray that you would not be removed from the list of those God has earmarked for everlasting mercy in Jesus’ name.
Meanwhile, kindly pay attention to the other aspect of our anchor scripture which says the everlasting mercy will be enjoyed for everlasting by those who fear the Lord. This means those who obey God at all times, those who maintain an unbroken genuine relationship with God, those who have pure heart and clean hands, those whose trust and confidence reside with God alone, and those who praise God at all times, not because of benefits from God but who God is. If you could not fit into any of these categories, you are not on the list of those who fear God. I sincerely implore you to go back to God. If you genuinely fear God, please remain steadfast in it. You will not only have everlasting mercy but you will also inherit everlasting life as well. Once more, happy new month as I pray for God’s abundant blessings upon you always in Jesus’ name.
